Many moons ago I was a daily user of Gaydar, then they ruined it. Changed the entire interface into something hideous and unusable and lost 95% of their visitors overnight.
In all my time as an internet user, I don’t think I’ve seen such a disastrous, self-inflicted destruction of a fully functioning and popular website.
They must know the horrendous mistake they made, so it baffles me why they don’t accept defeat and go back to the original format. Crazy.
It seems the equivalent of a swingers’ club stopping people from having sex, but expecting its client to go there anyway because they still serve orange juice
They had a perfectly usable and enjoyable website, then all of a sudden they ounts of user data, removing functionalities, breaking the ones which remained, and making it unusable from an interface point of view too.
On top of that, the whole business model was erased: from being a website which made it easy to find hookups, it became a generic “gay dating” site without any direction. They even tried to actively discourage sex by removing themed rooms in the chat. Eventually some of those rooms were recreated, but the whole experience has been extremely sanitised. The few functionalities that are still present now work, which is hardly a unique selling point.
Membership fees of people who had recently swapfinders joined, unaware of the imminent self destruction were not returned.They kept on asking what people wanted, only to ignore the immense majority telling them to bring the old website back – so they can’t even pretend they didn’t know what was going on.
